vss trouble... i searched too
i have a jdm b16a in my 90 si. the vss has not been hooked up since i put the motor in and im tired of no vtec. i got all of the parts (the speedo cable, the sensor bracket, gear, and all the clips and seals) for a 90 civic si to switch the electronic vss to the mechanical one. however, the tube-like bracket i got from the dealer does not have the plate that bolts in. in other words, the sensor that contains the spinning gear is free to move up and down, and due to the shortness of the cable, it gets pulled out too much when i let it go. if i had the bracket plate to bolt down and hold it in, it would be all good. right now i have a 94 civic ex vss bolted in with the vss cable sort of sitting in there just so tranny fluid doesnt come out. did i get the wrong bracket? does a 90-93 teg bracket have the plate that can be bolted down? if so, how is the bracket i have held into the 90 civic si? both of the electronic vss's i have, have the plate to be bolted down, but the one mechanical vss i have does not, but it can hold the speedo cable in with the clip. this is torture, i have 3 vss's, and they each contain something that i need but lacks something as well, but i dont have one that has everything i need. thanks
no that isnt really the problem... but i went back to the dealer and found out that the 90 si sensor is held in by a small plate that i didnt get from the dealer. so now everything will be good as soon as i get it. thanks though.
