search it is your friend. cost wise a b16 cable is a good way to go. but, any engine will fit any car. search and see what you want. there are many options.

a B16 in that car will run its *** off no doubt. If anyone can back me up on this one dosn't hasport or someone make a hydroconversion i prefer the feel of a hydro tranny i don't like the way cable trannys shift.
do u think a b18c5 will fit?
probably might have to cut a few things to make it snuggle
i know an h22 will fit a 92-95 hatch

This may sound really stupid and off topic.....but....how does a cable tranny work as opposed to a hydro? Is it just that the hydro uses hydrolics to change gears from the shifter? Maybe i should go look under my car

B16 sweet for sure but there are alot of things that will drive up the price on you. For ex. you have to buy a new motor mount and I believe they are 250-300 bux alone...
I went with a d16Y8 from a 97 ex in my STD... just about 130hp. dropped right in with stock mounts.. (have to use one mount from the STD motor...) I bought the motor and hydro trans from a guy for 500...sold the tranny for 200... not exactly a b16 but it is a HELL of a lot faster than it was...and MUCH cheaper...plus parts are really easy to find...
