Since I bought my 2002 Si last November it makes a wierd knocking noise from the front left of the car. It happens when my car has been parked all day and I go to pull out of my parking space and when I hit the brakes there is a knock seemingly from the strut tower area. I have tightened all the chassis and suspension bolts and have checked for any play in ball joints, etc. I was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

I get the same noise from mine. I guess its normal cause i had honda check everything out the last time it was serviced

 

I beat the crap out of the car trying to make it worse (not really I just drive it hard) but I can't. I'm thinking it may be one of the brake pads moving after being stuck to the disk all day. Still, it's annoying and if something is going to break I want to do it while its under warranty.

 

My EP makes the same noise after it's been parked for a little while. I had an '02 Civic EX that did the same exact thing too...guess it's a Civic thing.
This topic has been discussed in the forums section of 7thgencivic.com. From what I remember reading I'm pretty sure that there is nothing to worry about. My '02 EX made this noise on a regular basis and it never got worse or caused any damage. If you're really uncomfortable about though I would just take it to the dealer and have it checked.

 

i took mine to the honda dealer for this problem a long time ago. according to that sheet they gave me, they lubed up my brake pads. the noise went away but it unfortunately came back.

 

yea, i think its the brakes shifting a little.

when i roll backwards and hit the brakes, it knocks, then when i go forward right after it, it'll knock again.... i can keep doing that over and over and it'll knock each time

but once it knocks going one direction, and you continue going that direction, it wont knock anymore
