auto to 5spd tranny swap in 94 accord
hey everyone, I'm new here and I just have a couple questions. I need to know what the best place is that I could get a 5spd tranny for my car. I've got a 94 Accord EX auto right now and next spring or summer I'm hoping to do a tranny swap. Do I need to go to the junk yard and get one out of a 5th gen accord or can I get one out of any car that has an f22? All help is appreciated. I also wanna know what you guys think I'll be looking at to get the tranny. I'm going to talk to my friend and see how much he'll charge for the swap. Thanx in advanced

If planning to upgrade to a H22 not too late in the future, don't waste money on getting a f22 5 speed tranny. But if you aren't then the junkyard would be your best bet. Im thinking from the range of $300-$500. If you can even find a 5th gen in a junkyard. You've got to grab the shift linkage, pedal assembly and the manual ecu as well. Some other goodies as well, but I forget. But I've heard people re-wiring auto trannys to work fine without throwing codes. 5th gen trannys would of course work better but any 4th or 5th gen would work fine. I've heard people doing both. But remember if you're planning to swap a H22 in there soon, don't do the f22 5 speed swap. Not worh it imo. Good luck

I'm thinking about the h22 swap but it may be too much money. I don't know yet. I don't even have enough for a 5spd let alone an h22. I'm trying to save up so me and my g/f can move out together next summer but she's going to college and doesn't know if she'll be able to have a job and I work at Wal-Mart and I'll be in school so I'll only be able to work full time in the summer. So I don't knwo what I want to do first. I'm still thinking about it, I'm just getting price ideas. Thanx for your help.
