civic si or crx si?
i have a choice of gettin a crx si dark red, bone stock, or a civic si black bone stock as wel wtih a blown motor, i have a sohc zc in my hatch right now and was wondering what i should get. opinions plz
You sure that dark red CRX is an Si? The only red that came on the Si in the US was the Rio Red - a bright red. The darker red (Torino Red Pearl) is a '90-'91 DX-only color.
Anyways, all else being equal, I'd take another CRX Si. Don't get me wrong - I love the Civic Si hatchbacks as well, but if they're close to the same price, I'll take the running CRX every day.

im test drivin the crx tonight, i love how mugen body kits look on crx. but i like hatches as well. hmm hard choice. cuz i can get the black si for 1000 or the crx for 1800. any advice or anything lemme know thx
Check For a sun roof on the CRX... cuz i think only the si's came with a sun roof also. i just got a 91 crx si and i love it.. it my favorite car. i had a 91 hatch and it just didn't seem as tight..
the CRX is also much hotter

both come with a/c..and i also have both. take the crx so you have the best of both. the crx is lighter than the hb but the hb can carry 3 others. 2 neighbors had crxsi and hbsi and would run often and almost always the crx would win.i ran my stock dx rex against a 94d15bvtec hb w/i/e and he didnt pull me til 3rd when his vtec kicked in...and to check engine if its si look at the lil badge on the block about a foot under the dizzy should say d16a6(im pretty sure but not certain)

Let's see... The CRX, if it's an Si, will have the metal sliding sunroof that goes up and back. DXs were available with an aftermarket pop-out glass sunroof. The Si will have the D16A6 engine in it with MPFI injection setup, where the DX will have the D15B2 engine with DPFI injection. The DPFI setup kind of looks like a 2-barrell carb sitting on top of the intake manifold; the MPFI setup uses a throttle-body mounted sideways on the end of a big chamber on top of the intake runners.
Like some here, I've owned both CRXs and Civics, Si's and DXs. The Si models of both cars are more alike than they are different; either are good. Some people like the rear seat the Civic offers, and the extra room that comes with it. Also, some people say the Civic feels more "stable" at speed. Since I got used to CRXs first, what they call "stable", I call "ponderous".
To me, the Civic feels like a bigger, heavier car. Not much, mind you, but enough to notice.
Also, some will see the CRX's lack of a rear seat as a drawback. I see it as an excuse not to be a taxicab for all my friends!
If you're planning on swapping a more powerful motor in there, look at the general condition of the cars. Pay special attention to rust - on the CRX, it usually starts in the sunroof panel and the rear wheel arches, just ahead of the wheel and above the rub strip. I tend to pay a bit less attention to the motor (since I can swap in a fresh one in a day) and more attention to the overall condition of the body and interior. Engines are EASY to find - interior pieces aren't, especially seats that are in good condition. Also, if it's got really crappy paint and/or rust, I'll generally walk away, as I'm no good at bodywork or paint. I like to play to my strengths - a bad motor is just a challenge if the rest of the car is really nice!
Hopy you find one your really like,
