time to say "bye bye" to the Turbo Lude, S2K time....
i am looking to sell my Prelude very soon, gonna start saving, and hopefully be in the market for a 00-01 red S2000. now, my questions are, what types of trim levels are there on the car, what are my interior options, things i should look out for, etc basically what i want is Milano Red (they came in milano red i assume) with black leather, and eventually a c/f hoof, c/f trunk, and a black hardtop, with some bronze Mugen MF-10s (knockoffs more likely), and some form of FI, (comptech probably)
anyways, what are you opinions, wheres the best place to look, any idea on whats a good price, etc.

The first thing you are going to realize is that the S2000 is slow. Going from a turbo lude to a s2k will most likely leave you wanting boost real fast. There is only one trim level for each year, but it changed from year to year, not positive how though. Prices are all over the board, I paid 21,000 for my silver one with red interior, at 18,000 miles. I found it on Autotrader. Good luck.

1) Its Formula Red I believe
2) There are no trim levels. The '02+'s recieved multiple interior upgrades and some other small differences as well, I think there was a thread on this somewhere in here.
3) If looking into Pre-02's look for the condition of the plastic window, if its had all appropriate TSBs (2nd gear grind... etc...)
4) The Rota Mugen knockoffs won't fit an S2K, only the real deal.
5) Be prepared to lay out a pretty penny if you want a C/F trunk, even the knockoffs cost around $800 before shipping. The real deals (Amuse, CWest) are all $5000+
Hope some of this info helps you out. I would suggest you go over to http://www.s2ki.com/ and lurk around for a good long while before you start going out to look for the car. I'm sure when you get it you will love it, but just have all the information possible before you start looking

i grew up on a farm riding a go cart, my first car was a BMW 318i, then i got into Hondas, this FWD stuff just isnt much fun anymore, i gotta get the power back in the right end of the car. if its slow out of the box, thats fine, but i think this time, ESPECIALLY on a rwd car, i want a supercharger. i saw a red one at NOPI Nationals with a Comptech Kit, but it had a Paxton NOVI 1000 blower on it.... never saw a dyno sheet or even got to talk to the guy, but my guess is with a blower like that, its pretty mean

Hellz I came from a Turbo Civic Single cam, and yes the mid range of the S2k is annoying slow... be prepared for that shock. However, doesn't change the fact that S2k rules in all other aspects over my turbo Civic... sooooo its a trade off, but mostly for the good....

T-Sam - Maybe I can offer some insight into the NC market. I pick up my '02 GPW S2K tomorrow night.
1. Really compare the '00-'01 to the '02. I found that the '02 was really worth the small amount more for the mods. It got the glass rear, revised susp, revised ECU, tweeters, and some minor interior upgrades. Most of the plastic windows need care or they start to wear pretty easily. Do your homework!
2. NC has prices all over the board as mentioned. I talked to a dealer asking $24G for a '01 w/33k on it to an individual asking $25G for a '02 w/12k on it (Formula Red
). Think AutoTrader had a couple here in Raleigh for $19-21G with miles ranging from 30-50k. Just look around and don't be scared to hold out.
3. After owning a hatch and an ITR, I'm also finding out that mods are quite a bit pricier and reap only minor gains (except blower). Plan your mods and spend wisely.
Outside of that, have fun and good luck.

I went from a Turbo Integra to my S2K. Yes I do miss the raw power of the turbo boost kicking in and smoking most of the cars on the road. Its nice to have 300+ WHP for your disposal for any purpose you please. The S2k though is a much more solid car and it handles so much better. It also gets you more looks, kinda brings you up to another "class" if you know what I mean.
