Default OT: Omen of things to come? Aussie RSX Type R : first non-JDM market to receive Type R

http://www.vtec.net/news/items/795.html

AND GUESS WHAT??? IT'S A DE-TUNED VERSION OF THE JDM ITR!!!!!

okay that would really **** me off. and what's with the 197 hp???? the Type S makes more.

I never quite understand why the old guard mentality still holds in Japan where the home market gets all the goodies and the exports have the fangs and claws pulled out...hello? global economy? are we past the Samurai feudal system yet? I mean I liked the Edo Period but this is ridiculous....

I'm really hoping the RSX-R comes with the 200hp motor here in NAmerica. It'll make our *real* Type-R's that much more desireable!

Didn't we figure out the power issue not too long ago... something to do with the conversion over there? If you convert it right... it equates to be around 220... sound right?

Other thing... that's cheap... that aussie price says here in the US, it'd be only around $23,270... good price for an 'R'!!!

just expect what honda has always done..leave all the bells and whistles out. im sure we would prolly get the 220hp engine..but dont count the recaros!! plus if you think about it, if it came with all the jdm stuff what would we buy? PLUS THE JDM THING WOULDNT BE AS BIG..but who am i to say what they they will do..maybe they will surprise us!..mugen

I was reading an article on the Australian DC5 Type R. HP figures on that translate to about 197hp. It' seems to be really a cross between the JDM R and the USDM S. It's got the look of the R, but the mechanics of it are more like the S.

which is bullshit...no one should buy them if they do that...let em send em back to Japan until they get it right!

OK, here's a stupid question:
Why do all of the RSX-R pics have Honda symbols on them? I know Honda makes Acura, but the RSX/ Integra is an Acura, right. Are they sold as Honda's everywhere else?

Acura is only for North America AFAIK.
The Integra is a Honda in Australia, Asia, Europe/UK and maybe others.
Though we do have Lexus for some Toyotas, and Eunos for some Mazdas.

Re: the low Power, we always get the excuse that our fuel is not good enough (97 vs 100 in Japan) to have the same spec as Japan. Lower compression ratios for Aust delivery engines from what I remember.

Cheers
