Running Lean
I'm going to be running my LsVtec setup later this winter and I'm worried it'll run lean. The injectors and ECU are stock. The head has a port and polish, with ITR cams, JDM 4-1 and ITR Intake Manifold. It has USDM ITR pistons. It has the stock Throttle body (for now) and I'll be running the stock rev limit. You think I'll have a problem with detonation? I'll run 17 initial advance with 91 octane. The static compression should be around 10.8:1, I can't remember exactly.
I do run lean at around 6700 rpms with my motor, (CTR pistons/cams lsvtec and boltons) i also have stock injectors and fuel pump. there is plenty of fuel when your just crusing around town but under high rpm load you may encounter lean circumstances. I am going to try a Walboro 255lph fuel pump first and then go from there to 310cc RC injectors. The only way to really find out is go to dyno.
I know thats a weak answer "go to a dyno" although its really the only way.

Yeah, I was told my dyno tuner to pick up at least RC 270cc before going to get tuned. I am running LS/VTEC with 11.5:1 compression on 93 octane at 17 degrees timing with no detonation. I am running stock fuel pump with RC 310cc injectors. I would recommend getting some, they are not that expensive insurance that you will be able to get enough fuel.

I dont quite remember the number exactly and it was on an emssions dyno that we have at my shop so it was a tail pipe wideband o2. (given that these are not nearly as accurate the wideband o2 sensors that sit in your exaust path before the cat, although better nonetheless than the autometer junk...but you an i have already had this disscusion
)
id have to dig out the plot if i even printed it out.
back to your question though i dont know wheather it is fast enough to beat anything, i havent pushed it past the lean drop off point since i checked it. for fear of damaging something
Note: i am in no way condoning the use of an emssions dyno. Please go to a dyno and find out the right way, i know very well that i did not do this, i figured that i would wait to go to a dyno until i feel that a can do full dyno pulls with out worrying about damaging something.

PR3 B16 ecu.
PR3 B16 ecu.
i was told by steve sakai that the b16 ignition timing maps and fuel maps were not good enough for a b18.
i think he said something like "b16 ecu's are good for b16s, you need a b18 ecu."
because i ran that same ecu as you (well almost, it was a P2T (99-00 Si ecu), and i decided to take his advice and run a type R (p73) and indeed it does feel a bit better. no dyno comparisons though.
