how many miles did you have when you replaced your axles and ball joint?
What kind of symptoms were you having? Do you have a 4 or 6 cylinder?
Thanks iam7head.

it's actually on my other car.

check cv boot everytime i do a rotation for all the wheel, check the cracked boot asap, it's gonna be a boot now or a new axle later down the road.

the ball joints around 130K

Thanks for the info.
what kind of cars do ya own? Mileage?
Also, here is a good question. On your sixth genertation accord (98-02), Does your engine vibrate at idle in the mornings on cold start ups and smooth off as you drive the car like mine? I am told this is typical of HONDA's to vibrate at idle!! Thanks. talk to ya later.

My '99 LX 4 cyl doesn't have a rough idle. Before my muffler started to wear, I would sometimes have to look at my tachometer to see if the car was running or not. It has ~ 57,000 miles.

Dear Heat,

If you only have 57k miles, then it is early in your engine's life. Wait until you reach 108k like me and you have to change timing belts, etc. My car vibrates at idle slightly and gets better as i drive the car. Does anyone else have a sixth generation (98-02) car that vibrates at idle a little in the mornings?

Thanks cool guys!!!!

I have a 99 EX, 4-cyl, with roughly 115,000 miles on it. My car doesn't really ever vibrate, but I know a lot of people with high-mileage Hondas, and they all vibrate a little at idle. I can only think of a couple reasons as to why my car doesn't vibrate:

1) I've always used Mobil 1 synthetic oil.
2) I've done all the regular maintenance, including valve adjustment, new spark plugs every 20-25,000 miles, etc.

I really couldn't say how much it's helped to use synthetic oil, but my car still runs like new. I also tend to do the regular maintenance more frequently than needed.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about a little vibration, as long as it's not too severe. Any opinions from anyone else?

Yeh i do all the routine mainenace myself too. (simple stuff). I have 98 accord 4-cyl. with 108k. I have always used castrol gtx regular oil 5w30 and 10w30. No problems. Have you changed your timing belt, balancer belt, etc.? My slight idle vibration did not occur until i changed the balncer belt and timing belt. Honda dealership performed the operation and claimed everthing is normal. Vibration is strongest in the mornings while idling after cold startup. DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE A SLIGHT IDLE VIBRATION NOTICEABLE IN THE STEERING WHEEL ESPECIALLY ON MORNING STARTUP AND IDLE GETS BETTER AS YOU DRIVE?????????????

ThANKS.

I changed my everything myself at about 85,000 miles, so roughly 20,000 miles ago. A lot of dealerships told people I know that it's normal to have a little vibration after a timing belt change. I don't know though... Maybe the timing is just a tad off?

I think that I4 engines have a higher tendency to vibrate than the V6 counterparts. Except of course, some Toyota engines and the new iVTEC, but especially the vibration is more pronounced in higher displacement I4 engines.

Your engine may also need a good thorough throttle body cleaning. Also, check the engine mounts because they can go bad around that mileage. And a valve check would be nice too. Who knows if they may need an adjustment?

Yeh your right. Toyota engines are overall smoother than honda engines.

I DID clean out my throttle body out well. Engine mounts seem to be ok. Why did this vibration start to occur after timing belt, balancer belt, etc. were changed??? Honda dealership who did the operation claim everything is normal.
Thanks.
