Default cam gear over-advanced by accident

While changing cm gear settings, the intake cam gear was accidentally set to 8 degree advance. Things ran kinda rough and the car was driven on the highway for a test run before figuring out this was the problem. Obviously it was set back again and things appear to be running ok. I assume the worst thing that can happen is piston/valve contact. Is there any simple way to check if any damage was done? Compression had been like new before. Would this be sensitive enough of a test?

thanks!

If there was piston to valve contact it more than likely would have broken the valve resulting in a blown motor. If everything appears to be normal, then I would not worry about it. If you want to re-check everything, then go ahead and do a compression test. If there is a broken valve or something in there, you would most definately notice it in a compression test.
