Default Cooler or as cool as the stock intake tube?

I decided to get the Comptech Icebox and fit it w/ my stock intake tube (I called Comptech, they said it will fit). I don't want to buy an aftermarket tube though unless it doesn't heat up as much as the stock tube. Does anyone know of any tubes that are relatively cool compared to the stock tube?

Ah, sorry, good point.

From talking to a fellow ITR owner at Landspeed Racing in Arizona he said when he used Comptech's intake tube it would heat up a lot! Noticably more so than the stock tube. Thus, you pretty much defeat the purpose of cold air intake. In terms of performance loss/gain due to the heat of the metal tube I have no actual numbers.

However, look at it this way, the OEM tube and Comptech tube have the same diameter (or very close, enough so that difference is negligable). The inside of the OEM is just as smooth as the Comptech.

So basically you are paying for nothing, and possibly even a part that will decrease performance. It seems just a marketing thing so Comptech can make a little extra cash.

I agree....and people have said that when they called Comptech to ask, they even admitted that their intake pipe would not produce any gains!! At least they are honest about it .
