Default My new mods and some questions

I finished my mods yesterday, Fidanza Al fly, Spoon clutch and pressure plate, 4.785 FD with GSR 5th gear, JDM 4-1 header and Godspeed testpipe, JDM rear sway. First of all I gotta say the mods are awesome, between the gears and the fly the car is a ton more fun the GSR 5th also makes cruising better and the rear sway makes the car much more neutral. The car feels faster but hard to tell if the header makes more power but with the test pipe the car sounds cooler too.

On to the questions, I'm not real happy with the test pipe because of how the O2 sensor hangs and the front flange being too small (i had to modify it), so I think I'm going to get a cat, so who sells them, how much, which performs best, remember this is for a JDM 4-1 on a USDM ITR with stock cat back exhaust. Thanks.

I recommend a carsound cat by IPS. I jjust finished putting mine in today and it bolted up fine to my Spoon Header.

Mike from IPS is on this board as TYPERMSM.

Sorry for jumping off topic briefly R264
Hyper 165 - How do you like your spoon header, and how does it compare to the JDM 4-1 (on paper).

what I would recommend as far as the cat would be a Carsound 94006 model hi flow cat...it has 2.5" on both ends, which would allow you to bolt up a 2.5" exhaust later on, if you wish...But by doing this, you can get an adapter from the outlet of the cat and weld it on to your existing b pipe, in turn removing the first bottleneck of the stock exhaust (a definite plus)

And like i said, it leaves room for growth later to get a full 2.5" from header to exhaust down the road when/if you are ready to attach a 2.5" exhaust...

my .02...

BTW, I did the same thing (not on stock exhaust, but on my Tanabe Racing Medalion...waiting for a good 2.5" exhaust to come out)

hope this helps

you can get the cat and the adapter from SMSP on this board, or just the adapter itself from him...i'm sure anyone on here can get you the cat itself.

Hey does Carsound make a cat for the stock exhaust? I am looking to upgrade the stock exhaust by eliminating the bottlenecks. I plan on a cat, B pipe adapter from SMSP, and some other custom exhaust work. Thanks in advance guys.

Awesome! These are the mods that I want!!!

I thought Dan fixed the problem... maybe not.

they do make one, but do you have/plan to get a JDM header? If so read my post above for my recommendation, even if you keep the stock exhaust for now...

send the test pipe back to him and get a refund...frankly, I'm sick and tired of hearing how people are not happy w/ his test pipes and him not doing anything about it...don't turn around and spend more of your hard earned money because he sells products that don't fit properly.

I wouldn't stand for it, from any reseller, let alone from someone that frequents this board that you think you can trust.

Hell, he refused to sell one to me a while back b/c I didn't buy a header from him...looking back, I'm glad I didn't get it, nor will he ever get my business...I'd rather pay more somewhere else

Sorry to jump off topic also...But R264, how do you like the Spoon Clutch and Pressure Plate? What are your impressions over stock? My clutch is about to go, and my pressure plate is screwed so I am in dire need of a new one. Thanks

I have the street clutch and pressure plate as well and to tell you the truth the pedal feel and clutch operation seems to be identical, I haven't driven it enough yet to tell if it has a lot more grip, but if your looking for a drag racing clutch I think this probably isn't the one for you, but for road racing etc. it seems like it will work well, and while your there I would recommend the Al fly as well.
