I have a tial wastegate and when i hit my limit of 8 lbs. it makes such a horrible sound that it makes me cringe, and also whem i'm just givin it a little gas it makes is sound like ****...any help?

 

that's because you have an external dump-tube. When you hit your desired boost, it throws extra exhaust gases to the atmosphere. Just get the dump-tube routed back into the exhaust.

well..hell, what do you expect from a honda..?

 

I never hear mine (40mm) but in other cars I've rode in it is really loud. One thing I've noticed is that if you use an elbow from the manifold to the wastegate it is significantly quieter. That in combination with a short dump tube should fix you up.

disconnect the vacuum lines going to the wastegate. problem solved.

I think its the best sound in the world.. But if you really hate it (focker!), then have the wastegate pipe plumbed into the downpipe. It will make it quiet.

 

I vote for just don't run a wastegate.

That's funny..........the horrible sound that is. Maybe you shouldn't have gotten turbo. It all sounds bad . Especially that annoying whoosh sound like pressure is being relived or something

it pretty much sounds the same(open to atmosphere) on most turbo engines that ive heard(supras incl)

hold up everyone!

before we make assumptions, we must know how the wastegate is set up and how the dumptube is. Flamenco-T's old Drag kit set up had the dump tube facing strait to the ground and on boost it echo'd off the ground and sounded like a fawked up harley. it was horrible!

Now the sound of an open tial wastegate w/ no dumptube/properly positioned dumptube(angleing @ 45 degrees towards rear) is absolutely my favorite noise in the world!
