Default Any ideas?

I got my car back today after an oil change and new axles.

After driving for about 5 minutes the car started shaking badly and pulling to the left and pulling to the right. The car was fine before I took it to get new axles, but now after the axles were installed the steering wheel shakes violently and the car pulls to the left and to the right really bad.

The faster I go the worse it gets and I am having a hard time figuring out what it could be. I got 90 teg axles for it, I was thinking maybe a defective axle?

I was thinking that too, but I was wondering why it wasn't pulling to the left and right before the new axles were installed.

Did you remember to remove the dust rings from the axles? I bet you didn't!

I didn't do the work, a reputable shop in my area did. I know the dust ring has to be taken off, but I don't have time to work on my car. Between work and school I have no extra time, I'm gonna call the shop to see if they removed the dust ring.

The dust ring not being removed would cause the car to pull to the left and the right?

No, it would cause the car to be slow, at least until the metal heated up enough from constant friction against the hub surface to begin bonding to it

You know what, I think that is the problem. When I got the car back it felt sluggish.

I felt like the E- brake was on or something. But after I drove it for about 20 miles it felt like my power was restored.

We'll see tonight after I pick it up from the shop.

Thanks

Both the damn axles were defective, yes both of them, I am so ******* pissed. I knew it, that was my guess a defective axle, but I was wrong they were both defective.

It gets worse though, since I supplied the parts the shop does not warranty the labor

I hate cars sometimes, I really do.

I'd beat them with the ******* axles. Seriously, they're just ripping you off.

Right and this is a very reputable shop in my area that I have been dealing with for years, and they said, "sorry you supplied the parts, we can't warranty the work". I was like you can't be serious, but they are very serious, ******* rip off.

Now my dillema is where to get the new axles from.

The remanufactured axles from autoparts store are prone to being defective, as you have read above, but they are cheap. A new one from the Honda dealership will be more expensive but at least it will be quality.

Decisions, decisions.....

You should have just gotten the axles from the dealership to begin with. Then you wouldn't be in this mess.

You would be out a ton of money if you went to the dealership for axles

I've been using cheap, reman'd axles for quite a while now. Lifetime warranty 0wnz j00.

Take the axles back to AutoZone and ask them to warranty-replace the parts. I do believe they come with a warranty.

lol... I find this funny.

Honda sells cheap reliable cars, but the parts... ah.. THEY RAPE YOU. $170 for a knock sensor?? $24 for a radiator hose? $60 for a e-brake cable??

Yeah.. right.

Yeah right, they wanted way too much for an axle, remanufactured axles are descent, I just got really unlucky this time.

I used to work for the the autoparts store I got the axles from, so they are replacing the axles for me free of charge.

And I'm never bringing my car back to the place that did the work.

My friend around where I live is replacing both axles for $50, he said it will take him less than an hour.

Goes to show you how much "mechanics" rip you off....

I have a feeling that the U.S. Teg axles you bought and did'nt work out might be a tiny bit longer than the JDM ones that were used when the swap was done, or they didn't remove the sheilds. Sometimes JDM components are a little different than US ones. Hope it works out. Now bring that beotch down to E-town to throw down some times

Hey man whats new?

I am racing it next Sunday, I finally have a day off. My friends and I are going to Island dragway, E-town is too crowded.

My goal is to break into the 14's bone stock, well minus bone stock, with the stock exhaust, but I think I can do it.

The motor runs so good, I can't believe it, it doesn't burn a drop of oil, not a single drop.
