Default simple question... need instructions

i have a 95 honda civic ex coupe.. 1.6 liter sohc vtec engine... my car has been overheating because the thermo switch is not kicking in when it's suppose to (*at least that's what i think it is*). what i want to do is put a switch from my fan motor into my car so i can switch the fan on when i'm sitting @ idle so it will cool my car down.. anyone have any instructions on how i may do that... your input is appreciated... thank you very much...

So does your fan not turn on at all? If it doesnt why dont you go buy a new thermo switch and replace yours. It couldnt be that much.

Bad idea. Just spring for the new thermostat...they ones that are being talked about are called failsafe thermostats. They fail open instead of closed.
