Default Heat shield for your intake??

Has anyone built one of these. Any how to steps they can provide?
what material, and how did they bolt it into the car?
I want to build one soon.

I haven't tried it, but it makes sense that header wrap should work good.

Isn't header wrap supposed to keep heat in, not out? So if the intake pipe/air temp were to rise, the heat would not dissipate and would rather warm up the temp of the intake pipe, no?

I did the same thing that the King Motorolla cup cars did.Use Thermotec heat barrier cloth or tape.I decided to use the tape. The tape is easy to apply and cheaper than the cloth.Go to http://www.pegasusautoracing.com .It works great and looks really nice too.You will need about two rolls if you plan on doing an AEM or any other CAI.

Header wrap works both ways....

The better stuff to use to keep heat out is to use that shiny foil type stuff.

Any questions on the above shield, feel free to ask me!

If you have no AC I have the plans and a model I could send out to someone. The only thing you will need is access to a sheetmetal bender.

I am working on one for people with AC. (and a stock Intake.)

Smurf you are exactly right, but the application (being that it is a cold air intake) does it's intended job which is to supply the motor with cooler (more dense) air to create more hp. Yes i agree if the intake temperature charge were to increase the header wrap (which was purposely used for insulation) would keep the heat in the intake tubing. Just my .02

FEEL'S Honda Twincam makes a metal heatshield; it's featured in VTEC Sports (Vol. 2); can't remember the page no.

St. May used to offer something called the Rocket Dancer which was basically the same thing.

I still think the Horie Racing Service intake is a better idea.
