where do you keep / work on your race car? (garage, shop, storage unit, etc)
just curious where people keep & work on their cars.
I'm guessing most people will say the garage of their house, but does anyone keep it in a storage unit, or at a shop? Where do you work on it?

I have no garage or even a fixed parking space. I sometimes work on the street, but have recently had most of my work done by a mechanic who works from home at a very reasonable price or at a local speedshop who do me ALOT of favours.

Nice looking SE-R! Are you running GC Advanced Design or just GC coilovers with some other shocks?
Oh, and my SE-R is in my garage... on jackstands... with no transmission.
The BMW braves the cold and rain in the driveway.

I do minor work in my parking lot, but usually bring it into the shop whenever I have a day off and the shop is open (I work at a dealership)

I inquired about renting one in my neighborhood. It was really expensive, like 2x the rent of the 10x10 unit we have my GF's furniture in.

Thank god I have a shop now. Used to work in the drive way. A couple years ago I did a brake job in minus zero temps really sucked.
Hope to add a two car garage addition behind the house next year.

car will be put at my friends house for the winter. he's got a 3 car garage where he has his miata, and since we don't need them anytime soon, we're going to pull them in sideways and make 2 fit into 1 stall.

I live in a apartment so I have to do all my work the few times a year I go to my parents house (ie. Christmas, Thanksgiving...) .
It doesn't leave much time for socializing.
btw, does anybody know of any better options than this for someone that lives in a big city with no garage?
There's a shop near here that you can use complete with tools and lifts that you pay for by the hour. It's still cheaper than a mechinic (assuming you know what you're doing) but for a bigger job if could still cost you $100+.

when i went apartment searching, well, i didnt, i went house searching. with all my crap, cars and motorcycle, i cant live in an apartment. so i only searched for houses with rooms to rent and usable garage space. living in a house is much better in my opinion than a cramped apartment. if i didnt find my current room/garage for rent in a house, i would have rented a whole house and subletted it myself with double garage and extra driveway space that leads to the backyard to an even bigger garage/shop... mmm dream house.

Unless theres something cheaper, they go for 1,400 :-s
