Default Sizing the right turbo for my b17a.

hey guys...new to the darkside first off. second off i will be chargin up my 9.6 c/r b17a. compression results just in and with a 210 200 205 210 on 123xxx i will be trying to build a reliable yet budget concerned daily driver turbo by selling all my n/a parts, and a little help from the pocketbook.

plans are for a t3 of some type to be mated to a log manifold and run 5-8psi...will be tuned on my wideband through rom editing courtesy of blake and uberdata.

now...i really dont udnerstand a/r's, trims, compressor housing and all those other numbers so i really need some enlightenment.

in my days of n/a, my powerband is been from 4-5 (little pull) and from 5800-9000 (ok she moves). im ready for some low end torque.

i am looking for a turbo that will spool up pretty fast, yet still be able to pull all the way up to 8000 or 8500 (keepin itr valvetrain).

options so far include a chrysler t3 (weird flange) with 48 a/r (housing) 50 trim (wheel) .42 turbine... and a t3/t4 w/ a .64 turbine and guessing a 57 trim ...its the t3 t4 that came off of the non vtec d16 drag 3 kit.

curious to your opinions on what would work, how spool time would be, and how far (hard) each of these would pull. I greatly appreciate your wisdom knowledge, and suggestions on what size turbo would work best for my setup, these aren't my only options, just two i've found so far. Thanks for your help gentlemen.

Your mic is on -- you just asked too basic a question for this high tech forum..

Precision SC34 all the way. That B17 will LOVE it, and there's a lot of room for expansion with this turbo as well. I had a .48 turbine with a 46 trim compressor in a .50a/r housing, and it left me thirsting for more top end, but the 180 ft lbs of torque at 4000 RPM was fun.

Garret T3/T04E .50trim .63 a/r'

With a max-rev mani or something

This is going to be my setup on my b18a, you will have the higher revs to spin this bad boy to its higher potential though

not sure if i'll need a fuel pump without upping the fuel pressure on 5-7psi. haven't purchased the turbo yet, but its out there (friend). how much should i expect for downpipe, intake charge pipes, guages, and oil lines?

What are you planning spending on your turbo project. How long have you given for the build.

have manifold, injectors, wg, bov, and intercooler...

looking for a t3, and trying to be installed by the new year.

how do you think a t3 turbo .48/.60 AR from a ford would run. spool all the way up to 8000? 8500?!? just curious... trying to stick with strait t3, but i know i may not spool that high. will be running 7psi. peece.

IMO you will find that low end tq you are looking for, still produce good power up top on low boost, as well as stay within your budget with the Garrett T3/TO4E 50 trim w/.48 a/r

for the 2nd gen tegs...
I know that us honda guys love huge turbos, but if you want that nice grunt down low a straight t3 is the way to go. Think of a hp goal first, psi is not as important.
