hey one of my buddies has a 91 accord and he was saying somethina bout some one telling him that he could do to sr20dett motor swap into his car? but he would have to switch all the axles and stuff i guess or something like that? is this actully possible to put a skyline motor in a honda accord? anwayz hit me back thanks.
Hmmmm.... Possible? Sure. With enough money, time, patience, and ingenuity, almost any swap is *possible*. Likely? Not so much...
BTW, the SR20DET isn't a Skyline motor, as far as I know. Skylines got inline sixes, and the SR20 is a four-cylinder. We in the US got the SR20 in the Sentra SE-R. The SR20DET (turbo) came in some of the Nissan Silvia (240SX to us) models overseas.
Still, there isn't really any big reason that the motor couldn't be made to fit in the Accord, but the big question is "Why?". The amount you'd end up spending in trying for fabricate mounts for the engine and transmission, the cost of new axles to mate up to the Nissan transmission and the Honda hubs, figuring out a shift linkage that works, the wiring issues you'd face (plan on doing LOTS of wiring changes to get the Accord ECU to run the Nissan engine), and the general headache would make an H22A (Prelude SH) swap look simple. Plus the Prelude mill is good for a solid 195hp right out of the box. Add on your basic bolt-ons, and you've got a 200hp+ motor that's really not that hard to wedge into an Accord.

yah, unless your buddy has alot of time and money on his hands he should definitely look into something a little more practical. i'm sure it's possible, but $10 says it's never been done before, and i dont think your friend would wanna be the guinea pig for such a project.
an h22a or boosted f series would make that 91 pretty damn quick anyway. the sr20det only puts out about 200hp anyway. it might be able to hold more boost than a stock f series but for the money he'll end up spending on this swap he'd probably be able to put together a fully built and boosted h22. surely 400+ horsepower is enough to suit his needs?
