CRX Si (US model) distinguishing features?
Hey guys, I'm just curious about any/all distinguishing features on an American CRX Si. If you could also tell me the differences between the US and the Canadian version, that would be great also, thanks.
Any particular year? Let's *assume* you're talking about the '88-'91 models (only because they seem to be more popular and common):
'88 Si gets 105hp
'89-'91 Si get 108hp; '88-'91 "Base" or DX models got 92hp; HFs had (I think) 67hp.
Si's were only available with 5-speed manual transmissions. The "base" or DX models were available with a 4-speed automatic; HFs only got 5-speed manuals.
All Si's in the US came with the D16A6 motor. The DX got a D15B2, and I *think* the HF was a D15B7 (or -B6).
Si's got MPFI (Multi-Point Fuel Injection), DXs got DPFI (Dual-Point Fuel Injection - it looks like a little 2-barrel carb), HFs got MPFI, but it's tuned for mileage, not for power.
'88-'89 Si got alloy rims, 8 (or was it 9?) spokes, with a "sawblade" pattern.
'90-'91 Si got alloy rims too - 5-spoke "sawblades".
All CRX Si's got 14x5" rims.
Body: Si's had a standard passenger-side door mirror. On other models, they were an option.
Si's got the metal sliding sunroof. Some other models had a glass pop-out roof, but it wasn't a FACTORY 'roof - it was a dealer option.
'90 and '91 Si's got rear disk brakes. '88-'89s had to do with rear drums.
The Si models had standard rear windshield wiper/washer. On some of the other models, it was an option. Ditto the rear defroster.
Si's got nicer seats, with more aggressive side bolsters. The Si seats have a headrest with a hole in the center of it - it's kind of an oblong, misshapen rectangle.
Si's only came with the black and gray interior scheme.
Si door panels say "CRX" on them, above the armrest. "Lesser" CRXs just have a plain vinyl panel there, and no upholstery on it.
Does that help?
Mike

No. That is only the new 96+ Civics. Never happened on CRXs.
