SCCA Harness mount requirements
Yes I did a search, no I'm not buying the GCR since this is just to satisfy my curiosity. What are the SCCA requirements for shoulder harness mounting in a cage? As in tube size and thickness. Thanks!

Per my '02 addition, you are not required to mount your shoulder harness to your cage.

This does not represent a change in the 2002 edition. Someone with a copy of the '03 can verify if this has changed recently. As RJ stated, every single tube connected to your cage must meet the cage requirements, even if they are not required tubes. However, you are not required to attach your harness to any of these tubes. My copy states:
Where possible, seat belt, shoulder harness, and anti-submarine strap(s) should be mounted to the roll structure or frame of the car. Where this is not possible, large diameter mounting washers or equivalent should be used to spread the load.
So, this gives you the option of either frame or roll cage as long as you meet the additional harness mounting requirements (which I won't continue to type, since this should be enough to answer your question).
