Horrible paint job !!! Help !!
I was recommended to a shop by a friend to do a paint job (complete, same color) on my car...so I decided to add on a few touches.....shaving handles, an emblem or two and add a tail and new fenders..... Long story short....it took the shop a total of 1.5 mnts and I can STILL see the outlines of my handles, and the paint on my fenders and tail seemed to start to bubble....
All in all, the paint job looks like total sh*t (ESPECIALLY up close) and I am supposed to have a 5yr warranty...when I went back...they gave me a load of crap and ended up telling me they want $500 more to repaint the whole car to look great..... granted, even with that $500, the job would be a deal, but they have already made two attempts at the doors and I can still see the handle outline....some of my paint is already chipping, I took a while to save this money and do not really want to give those morons my car again. but other than that, I can't afford another paint job now and I don't want to lose what I already have invested !!!
Another paint shop told me that once a car has been repainted badly....there is NOTHING that can be done short of sanding down to the metal and repainting, which could cost upwards of $5000..... $5K can get me a turbo....let's be honest...but I don't wanna ride in a customized hooptie that can blow the doors off of a mustang ! I want to look good doing it !
What should I do ? Is the other body shop right about not being able to guarantee a quality paint job if I decided to repaint with another shop ? This is pissing me off and scaring me at the same time.... The guy at the other shop told me I'd prolly want to sell my baby within 6 months..... I don't want to do that... I like my ride...and want to keep it.... not to mention the custom work I have already done by hand myself....
HELP !

How much did u pay for their services. If you have documents of a 5 year warranty I'd slap that in their faces and tell them to correct it otherwise take some legal action. sounds like they maaco'd your paint ie( overspray, shitty or no clear coat) 2nd ask your friend if he wants it in the face or his gut ( while punching hand)
jk. Sorry about all your troubles. When it comes to something like paint jobs do some serious research..

one thing about shaving things like door handles ect it is hard for you not to see some traceof an outline, im a minitrucker with a fully shaved nissan so i know (damn lines are horrible), the only way to remove lines is to keep block sanding and working with it, make sure they welded the door pannel there and didnt just fill it with bondo, that would make the outline a bit more noticable, also every body work needs to be road drive for a few days so everything can settle and you know it wont crack. but if you have a 5yr warranty i would keep pushing that. also take pictures and get quotes from other shops. good luck with it
I'm going back on Tuesday to see if the morons are going to re-do it rite, or if I have to go to court... DAMN, this sux !!
As far as reversing a bad paint job, another shop told me it's extremely difficult, anyone know if that is true ?
