91 octane in CA
I was planning on going turbo and just foudn out that CA has only 91 octane. what can I do??! I just want a car that has some power to it and remain street legal.
I been pondering whether to turbo my SOHC or getting a swap and going turbo. I just want somethign close to 200whp and street legal.
CA sucks ***.

Street legal turbo in cali = Edelbrock.
Cali smog is a PITA. Hardest smog in the states.
oh and you can still run a turbo on 91 octane....there are plenty who do.

at first i thought u were calling cali smog a piece of pocket bread (PITA) lol.
yeah, 91 isnt as bad as u think, just get it tuned and youll be finee...

Plenty of people in california have turbo charged honda's. Just don't get anything less then 91.
Passing smog w/ turbo, never heard of it. A guy I knew with JRS kit, couldn't even pass in his integra at a local california smog.

Yep, I ran the GReddy kit on my Y8 at 5-10 psi (depending on the situation) with 91 octane, and I was fine. I even had my car tuned with 91 octane and no problems whatsoever. Oh, and I also know a guy who failed CA smog with his JRSC Civic. Very sad.
The visual was fine, but he failed the sniffer like a bitch. I think his JR fuel setup ran really rich and clogged his cat.

200 whp and 91 octane on d16 possible?
I thought turbo honda required 93. I read somewhere that a guy was denonating using 91 octane so i suppose it required 93.
anyone have a setup that is more than 200whp and street legal using 91 octane gas? I was thinking b16 with greddy turbo or maybe even the edelbrock kit that is coming.

Marauder is pushing 178 whp for now......he is testing a new engine to see how well the Edelbrock management deals with more than 7psi......a D16Y8 on 91 octane at 10psi intercooled is +200whp.

I am going to wait for maruder to have dyno sheets of the t28 at 10psi and see what is required in the setup. I had thought turbo required 93 octane and would start denonating with 91 octane.
But I am going to read further to see how complicated it is to install with the things for 10psi. So I can drive daily at 7psi and then when I go to the track I can just put the things required for 10psi.
So far all I can think that is required for 10 psi is upgraded fuel pump, FPR, Links module controller, serial cable, and a boost controller. I know Ill have to upgrade clutch adn fly soon anyway.
This is a hassle, to install the things you would need that are not street legal everytime you decide to hit the track.
