Default Is this zc worth it?

Today I went buy a guy's house who sold me some misc parts for my car..After talking to him for a while I told him I planned on buying a zc engine in the near future.. He proceeded to show me a zc engine that he had that needed a new gasket and the rocker arms had a little wear..He said he would sell it to me for $200. Would a engine rebuild be worth it for this engine? or should I just purchase it from a engine wholesaler

Negotiate with him! Tell him you can get one that supposedly doesn't need anything for $450.

He's not really pushing to sell it..However, I might get over in the fact that he has a **** load of parts that he is trying to get rid of to clear out his garage..What price would you suggest? Is this motor rebuildable?

Any engine that needs a rebuild I wouldn't pay more than $50
Doesn't make sense to pay $200 and tack on more $$ and work on it.
Just buy an imported one. Str8 from a wholesaler.

How does that make sense. Even if you get one from a wholesaler, your not getting a "New" motor. IMO, especially with a ZC, tell this guy youll give him 150 bucks if it comes with the tranny. Then rebuild that thing from the ground, spend the winter rebuilding it, and then run it. Even when you get them from wholesalers, its not like they rebuild em. You generally get them "as is" with a start up warrenty, and with most ZCs people tend to need to rebuild them after a couple of years if not right away. Just my 2 cents.

Even if you buy a Used engine from a engine distributor. You would still have to Change out all the parts. Headgasket, seals and all. It's the same ****.

If its just the head gasket and slight wear on the rockers I'd grab it. $50 for head gasket and I've seen complete dohc zc heads goin for like $100. I dunno, I'm a DIY guy so that would be a deal for me.
