Just wondering if this is a common ailment of 96 - 2000 HB's. I cannot find a noticable leak after doing water tests with a hose, and high pressure hose.

The carpet in the 'trunk' area was wet exclusively on the left hand side (if looking into the car from the rear) and has totally funked up the partical board spare tire lid thing (again on the left hand side).

Just a quick post to see if other have had this same problem.

I have problems with water filling the spare tire well. The tail light gasket leaked. Check those. Have someone run water on the roof and look behind the light cover. It might be leaking there.

yep, the gasket is probably bad.
i had the same problem with my previous hatch, and i bought altezzas(shut up) and they came with a new gasket. it fixed the problem

That is exactly what the problem is! The left rear light leaks like a bastard. Thanks for the help yet again HT...
