Default H23A1 with F22 Auto tranny in a fourth gen accord

Hello, I tried doing a search and it didn't come up with much. My Fiance has a 90 accord ex with an automatic transmission and it appears that after about 200k mi the engine is dying. I have a 95 Prelude with a H23 in excellent condition and I've been contemplating an H22 swap for myself for a while. Now my question is.... If I put the H23 in her car with her transmission (she won't learn stick) do you think the AT would last. The gear ratios really don't matter, I'm more concerned with reliability. Also would there be any problems with this swap. Thanx in advance for any advice.

well mike, i don't know too much about this, but here is what i believe to be good advice. i personally have not had any experience with either motor, but from what i understand, the stock f22 tranny in the 90 accord would work well with the h23 motor out of your prelude. but like i said, i do not have much experience with this. however, here is an idea for you. i know you can just do a head swap on the f22 and h23. you can research it a bit, there is a thread about a h22 head on a f22 block on accordingly done. check into that, it may be cheaper for you. then, just put a h22 head on your h23 block.

Well the problem is that the f22 bottom end is most likely shot and is what needs to be replaced. The other problem is the head swap is a bad idea b/c of the H23's poor r/s ratio. The H22 likes to be taken to 8k and the h23 bottom end doesn't like to go past 6500-7000. Also with as cheap as H22's are (1100 for a longblock) it would be much cheaper in the long run then going with a head swap. I have also heard many H23block/H22head horror stories. So the bottom line is.... my F22 is shot and I'm wondering would the F22 AT tranny survive another 20-30 hp & ftlb of torque? Thanx for the input.

Yes, with proper maintanence (i.e.: keeping the fluid changed and full), the F22 A/T will be fine.
They are stronger than what everybody thinks.
