b16 engine rebuild?
here is the problem I am currently in the middle of my engine rebuild. Im just about to install my main bearings but there is a difference in the bearings i ordered and the bearings currently installed in the engine. I ordered the bearings for a 99 si with the color chart (hadn't dissassmbled the engine yet) the bearings i ordered are grooved all the way around (both halves) with only one hole. The bearings in the engine currently are grooved only on the top half of the bearing and have two holes. Im wondering if there is a difference or if they are the same but a slightly diff design because of the year differences or because one is jdm and one is us spec. Im wondering if it will work and also if the colors on the bearings are the same for both applications. I really need help on this one. Thanks in advance.
idk but when i took apart my ls motor, i found that the bearings where coded pr3 and had the same design as the ones currently in your motor now. so pr3 bearins worked in my ls, note also that my ls's whole bottom end is no good because of oil starvation, was it hte bearings ? idk. but it would seems like a more efficient design beacause it would help get more oil on the bottom bearings but um isnt there a corresponding hole on the rod to match the holes in the bearing ? idk if that would cause a major factor in the bearings and oil distribution. not much of a help but yeah sorry
