you will need to rip everything apart and buy a whole system. lines, evaporator, condencer. everything just hooks up if u got a manual.. might cost alot though.. hardest part is to go under the dash where the glove is, there the evaperator is.. and tate to the shop for freeon.. i use 134a blows cold..

I wish someone that really knows would chime in. I've only worked on cars that came equipped with ac systems.

i say just get the system..i looked at alldata shop manual. i think even chiltons would do.. just make notes of that u took out, cause there is alot of ****.. use masking tape to tape the parts and what goes where.. all blower are all the same for eg civic. wires are usually plugs.. but u dont really have to unplug anything near the evaporator..try not to cause there is quite some plug.. and if u do, use masking tape. make sure before u install, take an air chuck and blow the lines to get rid of the debree. especially the expantion valve, or replace if u can, fairly cheap. also blow the capillary line.. makes it blow colder and less pressure build up.. u'll find all of these in the manual..if u dont wanna pay for a manual just go to pepboys and read all of this.. and if it is understandable for u then buy it.. if u dont like it, then return it.. hope this helps

i've never really paid attention to a/c in any cars...this is really the first time where i have dealt with a/c and specailly an eg hatch...the car doesn't have an A/C button, therefore i'm taking that it did not have a/c when it was bought correct? if it didn't have a/c will the condesnsor still be there under the glove box?

No the Evaporator under the dash behind the glove box will not be there if your car came from the factory without AC. You will have a plastic duct in its place instead. All you have to do is swap out the Plastic heater duct and swap in the evaporator duct/unit that should be it from under the dash. Then of course everything else under the hood for the AC system.
