So is it true? NHRA and IHRA Banned MSDs Digital-7 Plus!
I was just reading in the new Hot Rod that they banned it for all professional and sportsman classes because of its slew control technology.Suppose to be like traction control once you set it up right.
WTF are u serious? I have this in my ******* car!!!
well i have the digital 7 plus programable, is that the same thing?
If it can work like a traction control, how the **** do u set it up is what i would like to know

oh yeah, dead serious, get ready to hide it inside your heater box if you plan on running in the NHRA/IHRA with it
..I'm really not good at explaining things cause my grammar skills suck, your best bet is to pick up the Nov issue of Hot-Rod.Its got a nice write-up inside.

It's P/N 7531 only. http://www.dragracingonline.co....html. I've *heard* that this is what a certain Pro FWD on the verge of 7's is running. But don't quote me on that.

The driver's skill is supposed to counteract track conditions not a computer. What's the point of having a driver if all he has to do is push on a pedal and keep a car straight?

expect a whole bunch of rule changes, like backing down turbo sizes and a whole bunch of stuff. the mid rule changes we got earlier was just the tip of the iceberg. also rumor has it that summit is backing out for next year and the bid is open to MCDONALDS and COCA COLA. so far from what i hear the bid is at 3mill$ and Micky D's is winning. SO how do you like the sound of "THE MC DONALDS SPORT COMPACT RACING SERIES."
dude I love mcdonalds, if I can go race at nhra and get a double cheese, I am gonna be real happy
oh by the way the regualr msd programable digital ignition is part# 7530 so it is different than the one d-man is talking about, I know for a fact that there is no slew control or traction control type options on a the "7530" , most people here that have the digital have that one, the only traction control it has is 3 stage rev limit , launch, burnout, and max rpm. I hope they dont man my 6al

Oh yeah sure, start making turbo size rules as soon as I just get my turbo.
Oh well. Hopefully I'll still be in spec. if not I'll just have to go with the flow.

Hmm, not only Motecs, but also the AEM EMS now as the traction control system there works the same way (engine rpm acceleration rate in each gear).
Policing this stuff is going to be as difficult as it is in F1 - which means eventually they won't be able to police it. On carb. cars or mechanical fuel injection (NASCAR, Pro Stock, Top Fuel, etc.) its much easier to watch than it is on cars that depend on fuel injection computers....

basically the reason for backing the turbo sizes down is that the pro stock guys were whining about us import guys being faster than them. plus NHRA has a concern with us running 180 mph in a front wheel drive unibody car. they feel that we aren't experienced enough to drive that fast so early in this sport. they can't except the fact that technology has advanced so much compared to back then when it took them forever just to start running 300 mph.

well I think they should realize that it is easier to pull than push
cars are going to be fast there's no stopping it. A 9 sec quarter is a 9 sec quarter whether you do it at 130mph or 180mph.

They can't even keep them straight down the track 90% of the time though.
