NON ti aftermarket retainers
im just curious if theres a retainer available thats not titanium from the aftermarket. the failure of my friends OEM b18c5 becasue of a broken retainer kinda scares me, since i am using OEM retainers on EF-1 springs and spinning to 10,000 rpm daily
remember these parts people sell are race parts you need to check your engine
Not just put them in and 30k later if they break people get mad and say so and so's parts suck... If ya want somthing that will never break run the stock ones....

your friend could have broken his not because of the specific oem part failure
could have been coil bind or sumtin else
spend the 50 bux for new oem retainers and valve keepers and you will be fine

im sorry i did tno elaborate like i should
the retainer was oem retainer that failed, with oem springs, and oem cams the only mods on the motor were boltons.
on a seperate note, my moms f22 broke a valvepsring at 110,000 miles and dropped a valve.
i have EF1 springs, i would like a retainer that will last as long as the spring

i seen the EF-1 valvetrain in real life before vs. alaniz, portflow, supertech
etc...
ef-1 valvetrain is the only valvetrain (besides OEM?) designed to be a direct fit to each other that should cause no wear or galling? to the retainers.
plus the titanium the ef-1 retainers are made out of are supposed to be superior to that of your average aftermarket retainer.

John,
Valve float will kill alot of things including retainers. That's my 0.02. Since you probably don't experience valve float with the springs I sold you should be okay.
But at $3 a piece or so new stock retainers are pretty cheap.
