grr I heard of a thread like that too, I belive it has to do with sound proofing, probably some dynamat or other vibration absorbtion methods, but dont take my word for it...
Well you could probably put a lot of weatherstripping type stuff around the seal of the door. The difference between an outside house door that has good weather stripping around it is a nice suction sound when you open it and it sounds solid when you close it, compared to a door without would just swing shut and slam the door frame. just a thought, I don't really know and have never looked into it..

weight. THats how. Make your door heavy as **** and there you have it. I install car stereos and if you dynamat the whole door on the interior of the sheet metal behind the door panel, and maybe even on the inside of the door panel it will close with a "thud". And congrats, you just made your car heavier. So I guess it depends on your outlook on performance. I've put in dynomat in excess of 200 lbs in a civic hatch back. Lol....**** sounded good, and the ride was quiet as any luxory car, but give me a break, who wants to add 200 lbs to their car?

So... i take off my door panel... dynomat the inside of there... and on the part of the door facing towards the other part of my car ( where the door meets the car you could say )
I have never looked back there... is my window gonna screw with me or will we be fine?
thanks for the help too though!

Well of course you'll have to do it with the window up. But the window sits on a scissor type frame. You'll just have to work around all the **** inside the door. I don't see it as being too big of a prob. Just take off the door panel and you'll see whats going on.

Dynamat is overpriced and overrated. I bought some Peal N Seal from my local Lowe's Hardware. It's aluminum roofing material that is around 30 mil I think. I put 2 layers on the inside metal of the door and one layer on the panel itself. After that, the doors thud like a BMW. I can tell a huge difference in road noise and audio inside my car. You just have to deal with a tar smell for a couple of days. Cheap and easy.
Yes, the tar smell goes away. You'll never smell it again. 30 mil is the thickness of the material. I'm still not sure if that is the thickness of the stuff or not. Just go to Lowe's, look in the roofing department, buy some and take back what you don't use.
Haha....dynomat over priced???? No way. Lol....you have no idea. I know what the cost is....and its sad. I've never used the ****. I like car audio, but not enough to weigh my car down to make it sound a tiny bit better.
However, I would imagine this stuff at lowes or homedepot would work just the same. Go buy that **** and save yourself some money. Peace.

Have you used the "dynaplate" stuff they make... it's supposed to sound deaden better then the rubberized mat stuff and it's supposed to be light too...
It's WAY expensive though... but if you gots money and weight is your concern I think that's the best solution....
Also on a side note the spray "rubberized undercoating" stuff works great too.. and it's not that heavy... if you want to quantify it just weigh the can before and after... I'm sure they don't weigh that much at all...
I did my front wheel wells and not the rear... Now when I go over said or water I can't hear it AT ALL in the front and it's clear as day in the back...

Haha.....uh-oh...someone is offended. I think he was refering to the fact that to own a BMW at 20....one worth being proud of anyway...you are either spoiled (maybe not spoiled, but at least given nice gifts from mommy and daddy)....dropped out of school to work full time....or are in debt. These are the only three ways you could feasably obtain a car of this price at such a young age. Except for a few extrodinary cases. Thats my take on it anyway.
This doesn't relate to the satisfying thud when the door closes, but here's a tip for you people out there with doors that make horrible and embarrasing noises when you open or close the door. What you do is take a small amount of engine or tranny oil and dab a couple of drops onto the door hinges and voila! The door now makes no more screaming noises.
IMO, i think that satisfying thud goes away with age... only brand new parts that were just assembled fit like gloves... over time, the doors start to "give" a little, and they fit just slightly differently than how it was stock... i say... remove door, remove hinges/components, replace and inspect... retorque properly
i dunno, just a thought

Not offended, I just thought his comment was incredibly dumb so I thought I'd comment on it. You can pick up a used E36 325 which IMO is a VERY nice car for around $6k. I don't know what you put in to your car but my Civic is worth around 5-6k.

i think he was talking more about the high school kids that drive daddy's BMW or BENZ. Plenty of the rich ******* around here.
Giving your kid a car worth more than 3000 for their first car is a bad idea. I see brand new cars fucked up all the time cause the kids can't drive and/or have no respect for their cars.
My parents would have helped me buy a car but i said no, because i wanted it to mine 100% my car! Now they can't tell me **** about what i can a can't do with it.
