Default B16a in EJ Track times

I ran for the first time since the swap and my best time was an embarassing 15.8 #@ 85mph. 60' was 2.6??
I had problems getting into 2nd and 4th gears. I have never launched my car before the day at the track, I have always been easy on it since the swap. Also, I rarely drive this car, I drive several different cars through out the week due to my profession, so I know as a person, I need to improve my driving skills in this car.

How can I improve my 60' times.
Also, is it me or a transmission issue when I could not get into 2nd and 4th gear?

I have not experiened this problem before, but then again I have never shifted as fast as I was shifting while at the track.

I am in the exact same boat as you!

I have 92 VX with B16a completely stock, not even an intake . Now I have been to the track a few times, but I haven't ever raced at the track, only watched. So I finally went and raced my car at a track for the first time ever. It was my first time launching since the swap, and the track was unprepped since it was street legal night.

But you should feel better cause, in the 1 and only run that I got, I pulled a 16.32@86.7mph with a 2.76 60'. So I know all about embarassment

The worst part was that I only got 1 run all night

For improving 60' times, I'm guessing that you had pretty bad wheel spin, just like me. It would be better to just launch at a lower rpm and feather out the clutch so that you don't spin so bad. Even if you bog out a little, that is better than just sitting there and spinning the tires.

You can also get better tires ie. drag radials/slicks

As far as the tranny, if it hasn't given you any problems, ie grinds, or hard to put in gear, before then it was probably just because you need more time/experience in the car to get used to the quick shifting.

When you say that you couldn't get into gear, was it grinding, or were you just missing it?
Cause I occasionally have that problem too, but it's just cause I'm trying to shift too quickly and I clumsily miss the gear.

I would say that you need the exact same thing that I need, and that is just getting experience in the car. With more practice, our times will improve.

It's simple. Say it with me...

There is no replacement for practice.

There is no replacement for practice.

There is no replacement for practice.

Just keep going back, you'll get it.

My gears weren't grinding or anything, I was just missing the hell out of it. At the time it seemed like a hardware problem but maybe it was just me.

yeah, just get more time in the car and you won't miss gears as often.

It is frustrating too. I know that I always get mad and feel like a dumbass when I miss a gear.

Yeah, well that is just one of the many things that I need. If you didn't read my first post, the things I need most are more time at the track since I have only ever gotten 1 run at the track in my life, and I need any and every bolt on, since my motor is completely bone stock, ie stock intake, stock header, dx header-back exhaust, stock clutch, stock flywheel, etc.

Tires I was using were nitto NT450's which suck my *****. So I definately need better tires, but I also need many other things, mostly experience at the track.

Cause my time sucked ***, and I know this

I am going to have to blame my performance on my lack of experience with this car and especially since I am used to my S2000, getting used to a front wheel drive car is going to take a second to get used to again.

um yeah, 6k is a little high.. if your just gonna dump the clutch and go wide open throttle. if your using street tires, id say a good 3500-4000, dump the clutch and feather the throttle till u get decent traction and then go wide open. this has worked for me in every car ive driven at the track and have never got worse than a 2.3, usualy pull low 2.2 60's.
