Question: How many months to wait till u wax your car after Paint Job?
Received new paint job on my '99 car -- PPG Prizmatique (Very Unique). How long should I wait till I'm able to WAX my baby ??? Feedback is much appreciated... Please reply !!
when i got my car painted, they told me only to hand wash it for 90 days......you shouldn't need wax anytime soon since its brand new paint, but if its could you want extra protection, i'd wait at least a month or until your car stops smelling like paint(couple of weeks).....but even after i stopped smelling the paint, my friends could smell it (guess i got immune to the fumes)
You don't want pressure on new paint, so waxing is out of the question. Yet zip does make a liquid wax that you use when washing your car. I don't use it, I do it the right way, by hand. But since it is new paint you want it always protected, so it is a safe way. Give it a try, it cannot hurt. As GTEater said, wait until' 90 days, or when the shop recommends.
A few guys I know who paint cars say to let the car cure for 6 months before actually putting wax on it. I don't how legit that is, but I would trust them.
Clear coat and paint will get ruined ovet time without protection. Wax is key. I think 6 months without wax is unsafe. But if garaged then it will be fine.
