Anybody modified the stock hood to clear b-series? Removing bracing/ lightening tips.....
Links anyone?
I need to clear my b-series, but want to keep the factory hood latch. I will also add hood pins.
What will need to be trimmed/ modified? Going for lightness here.....
-the r0cker, who is off to use up about 50 dremmel cutting wheels.....

I think most ppl run the stock hood just fine. But you could always get a ZC hood to clear the valve cover side more or cut webbing at parts where it does not clear.
I cut the lining under the hood because it was rubbing against the engine, I used a grinder with a cutting attachment tool to cut threw it. Be careful you don't slip and go threw the hood.

I know of nobody personally who runs the stock hood without it rubbing. I have the hasport billet mounts and my b18 rubs on the driver's side of the valve cover. My buddy has the same mounts on his crx and his motor rubs. I have another buddy who has hcp mounts (which when we compared, made the motor sit 1/2" higher) - his motor rubs the hood too, but he don't give a ****. I do. I will cut it, cause I don't care about the hood. I do care about the valve cover.

the b18s rub slightly more with the hasport mounts unless you shim the mounts, at least thats what it used to say on hasports website, the only time my engine rubbed was when the back bushing dissenagrated causing the engine to lean forward, only a little spot on the valves cover.

with my HCP mounts, my b18a1 NEVER rubbed on the stock hood. never even came close.

i had a b18c1 with HCP Mounts and i ended up rubbing just a little...so i took out the hood latch bracket and put 1/4 inch washers in underneath and never had a single problem...i had a nice powdercoated valvecover and everything (we all know that powdercoating ads a little bit to size) and i never rubbed...
i say try not to cut your hood they get so damn wobbly and flimsy it just doesn't look stable for safe.

I'm running the stock hood, but if you need you might be able to ghetto rig it with a few washers to lift the hood up slightly. Depends on the space you need
