Default ES motor mount help

I'm installing a new ED torque mount inserts on the driver's side (the zip ties from my original insert broke and the insert broke loose and got chopped up by my crank pulley), but I can't get the engine to drop quite far enough to remove the mount from underneath the car. All 3 bolts on the upper mount are totally loose, but the engine won't drop any further. I've even tried to loosen the upper mount bolts on the passenger side, but no joy. I've done this install before, so I must be getting senile. Is there something else holding the engine up? What am I doing wrong?

did you take off passenger side torque mount? that should be all you need to do. it's a tight fit, must use force, but you already knew that.

I didn't remember having to take off the passenger side torque mount. I'll give this a shot. Yes, when in doubt, use excessive force.

Removing the passenger side torque mount didn't help any. The engine still won't drop down far enough to the get the driver's side lower torque mount off. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you sure al the three upper bolts are completely loose? I hate to say this because I am sure that you did , but you did unbolt the two bolts on the underside that hold the mount to the body of the car, right? Sorry to mention, just had to ask.

Also, I remember with mine that I hade to pull a little bit and angle the mount slightly to get it to come off. Most likely one of the top nuts can come up a little farther.

Good Luck...

All 3 upper bolts are totally loose - I could spin them out by hand. And I remembered to unbolt the 2 bolts that hold the mount up to the frame. I even tried to lower the car off the jacks to see if the angle of the car was holding the engine up. From what I remember's there's another 1/4" of play left on the upper bolts, and I can spin the bolts loose to that point, but the engine just won't drop. I'm running out of ideas. Please help guys.

uh, dunno what's going on man, if the 3 bolts/nuts by the power steering line are completely loose, i don't know what else you can do..( i'm assuming that when you loosened these, you were able to watch the engine lower down via the threads)...

eh, get a bigger hammer.

If you are talking about the lower drivers side. I just took off the power steering pump and AC pump and removed the enitre
bracket(4 bolts front 3 back i think.) Make sure you break the mount nut beforehand though cause it's a bitch after. Seems like alot of work, but only takes an hour or so to take off and replace.

I can watch the engine lower about 1/8-1/4" when I start to loosen the upper 3 bolts, but as I continue to unscrew the bolts, the engine doesn't drop anymore. Yes I thought about taking off the whole bracket, but I would've rather not messed with the A/C compressor. I've removed the motor mount before with no problems. My car is possessed!
