Default Listening to music while the engine is off

Hey, I drive a '91 DX hatch and there is currently no way for me to listen to music with the engine off without having that annoying beeping reminding me my keys are in the car.

When I turn it to the first postion, it beeps indefinitely, very annoying and every other second. When I turn it to the second position, the on position, all the lights and fans come on and the battery will go dead within 30 minutes like this, although there is only beeping for the first 10 seconds.

Basically, I eat lunch at the beach and need to have my car on to listen to music. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

try going to the 2nd position then back to the first, sometimes its like my car wont even notice its in the first position, so i turn it to the 2nd, and then back to the 1st, and it works.

thats how mine works. does your dome light stay on when you leave the switch on door? it might just think a door is open.
