NEW alternator overvolting past 5500

Default NEW alternator overvolting past 5500

the battery is at 12.4 volts while car isint running. goes to 14.7 or so while running, at 5500 rpm or so it goes to 16.7 this alternator is a brand new bosch for a 90 teg. i need to know whats is the problem.

maybe the regulator on the new alt is bad, yeah taht is kinda high

well the alternator just blew up at ~9900 rpm. pretty neat actually, big puff of smoke and a nice red light in my dash...

i went ahead and ordered a 94 GSR alternator- heared its higher amps and will also be designed fr 8000 rpm revs


u think itll hold up to anything higher? that ls one was pretty crappy

i would have imagined the regulator was bad, regardless of how high you rev i do believe it should regulate the voltage like it should..........

anyways........ good laugh
