86 crx hf weight difference with 87crx si
why is the crx hf ligther than the crx si. the hf weighs 1723 and the si weighs 1974, weights are probobly not exact but there pretty close.anyways why is the hf lighter than the si models what is different.thanks
hmm, i took an 87 si crx and dumped the a/c, sunroof, rear wiper and motor and rear interior, kept all else front seats and forward xpt got rid of bumper supports and weights 1725 with crvtec
It's not any one thing, it's a combination of LOTS of *small* things (smaller on the HF
). The HF uses thinner axles, smaller and thinner brake rotors up front, ALUMINUM rear drums, lighter (2.5mph) bumpers, thinner seats, a lighter engine and transmission, smaller radiator, etc. It all adds up.
If I were building my first-gen autocross car again, I'd start with an HF and swap a few crucial items over from an Si. That way, I'd get Si power and handling, but NOT the Si's weight penalty!
