I jsut installed my aem and my comptech axle back. the aem when i give itthrottle makes a weird annoying *** whistling noise that is loud. and no its not that whooshing sound of thefilter sucking. anyone know what thsi is?

 

Its normal..... the AEM is famous for this.

Many if not all intakes, short ram or "cold air" will make the whistling noise.

 

my gsr and ls didnt make it. its a high pitched anoying *** noise. is there any solutions to resolve this. i looked around and no real solution

 

It's basically an ITR-only noise. The AEM made the loudest whistle, my icebox does the same, and even the stock box made some noise.

 

do u think if i cut it to short ram, teh noise will stop?

 

dude,
don't worry about it. all type r's get that sound with intakes. you had that sound already (remember when i mentioned it?), and now b/c there is no resonator absorbing all the sound, you hear every sound the engine makes.
but don't worry....you become quickly accustomed to it.

by the way, how's the car running with the AEM and comptech??

And I actually like the whistle my Mugen intake makes

I find the resonance around 3000 rpm much more annoying.

 

It's not ITR only, happens on all integras. Some are just louder than others.

Even the stock box whistles if you listen hard enough.

 

my J's dosn't whistle... but yes as said above.. its normal

 

I cut my AEM CAI into a short ram for throttle response reasons (and being bored) and I can vouch for it whistling both ways.

it's not that annoying... i like to make it whistle back and forth with the throttle when passing girls on the street

my comptech icebox doesn't whistle. i have a JDM DC 4-1 and Spoon N1 axleback so maybe i just can't hear the whistle.

Don't cut the AEM CAI- Leave it alone. Now you can say you have a SC to the dumb ricers that pull up and say "whatyagot?"

 

its not Type-R only. I've only ridden in a few hondas that DONT make that noise with aftermarket intakes.

 

i know now that its normal, but has there ever been a method of crrection

Put your stock intake back on, problem solved
