Default Aprilia Tuno 50s and RS50 Replicas...

Anyone know how much these 50cc faux sportbikes go for? Having trouble tracking down a price.

rs50's go for about 3500 new I think. why not look into the derbi gpr50's those are like 3k new and look awesome.

I'm wondering if I have to register one of these things.

They are only 50cc, after all.

they do come with a title and are street legal. I believe they have a moped title but not sure. some states don't require insurance on 50cc bikes.

Aha. So like the scooter I already have.

What's the performance like on these things? I see they have 6-speed trannies...any ballpark figured on hp/tq, acceleration, top speed?

I would say its as fast as a scooter but cool none the less. I woud even pimp my ysr50 if i had it street legal.

Is that GPR about the size of a YSR? From the pictures on that link, it looks like its pretty big.

I just put in a new clutch on my 50 and it was 20 bucks. new pistons and ring is 60. stuff is pretty cheap and they're engines are easy as hell since its a 2 stroke. just gotta be carefull and not lean it out too much or it blows up.

i had an rs50, they are pretty easy to maintain, and there fun as hell, redline is at 11500 rpms, sounds beautiful and as far a insurance its classifieds as a moped, if you tell your insurance company its 49.5 cc which it really is then it should be classified as a moped also depending on you states.thanx jpena

I've seen more than a few rs50's around DC. Mostly around M or K street. $3500 is the msrp ballpark. You can get them for $3200 relatively easily at the aprilia dealership. I forgot the name but they're great. Got an edwards edition mille from them, no price gouging. Huge scooter inventory, just started the full size bikes.

Is it any faster than a scooter?

I feel like it would have to be, with a redline like that and 6 gears.

For $3000 you can get a Kawasaki EX250, good used ones are far less. The insurance on mine is only 120 per year, full coverage. I think it would be a better option for the street than a 50cc bike. Not that I would know, but the bike tops out at 98

Well, I went to an Aprilia dealer yesterday and checked out the RS50. It's about the same size as an 600 cc bike, except it's pretty narrow and has skinny tires. the saleman was telling max speed is 60 and take pretty long to get there, however they do offer a stroker kit ($1200) to make a 80 cc bike, then it'll be alot of fun.

Why can't they just offer it in a 250 cc ?

They have a RS250. Its a full race bike but some people managed to get them titled but you are going to look at a price tag of about $6500 for a used and titled one.

These bikes are great beginners bikes. I want to get one. I'm having trouble finding a dealer though.

I heard the RS50 has a top speed of 70mph. lol but hey it's only 50cc.

Have you got any clue as to how to get one legalized, I started looking into this about 1 year ago but have not had any luck, I might pick up a RS50 and drop the stroke kit into it for a go to work and back thing. But the 250 would be ideal as it does have enough power to get on the freeway unlike the 50. Luckly I have a aprilia dealer near my house so parts are not a issue.
