What used to be THE place to get answers on any R specific issues and recommendations has turned into a f--king Off Topic forum full of BS polls and totally unrelated items.
Very disappointing to say the least!
I urge the moderators to crack down on all the BS that is going on here, and get it back to being what it was, a true tech forum. There is an OT and Race story forum to post other crap ......

You mean all really want to see are all the "Which Header is best" posts
Polls on "what color RSX ITR do you want" or "best mods for under $xK", etc., etc. which seem to be repeated endlessly. lol.
I agree there are some way off topic things going on, but there needs to be a little variety to keep things interesting. Some discretion should be used and maybe some examples shown on what not to post, maybe even remove a post if it's too ridiculous, but if it's gets too rigid around here it won't be any fun.

For one thing, there isn't that much new tech stuff to talk about. If thats all we're allowed to talk about, the board will shrivel up and die. I do think moderation is necessary, but dumb topics seem to flow to the bottom quickly anyway.
look at it this way... remember the integra forum how it was? i cracked down on it for a couple weeks... people disliked me... bitched to me and whatnot... but hey... look at it now
Trending Topics
exactly. and if they don't...and i see a post blow up about guns and crap...i delete it. I'm not the main moderator...but i tend to get rid of **** when i see fit and have the time to do so. if i'm doing a bad job...tell me to **** off but i thought to this point its still going ok for the most part
Seems to me that not too long ago, about 8 someodd months, an entire day would sometimes go by that no one posted here. These days, things scroll quite fast, and while I'll admit that the board has leaned a little more off topic than it used to be, it is a valid point that if all we post about is technical stuff, the fresh information will die out, and the board will degenerate right back down to the same question being asked over and over. This will cause many people who check the board often right now to leave, and the overall pool of technical knowledge will shrink.
I believe a happy medium can be reached, but to rid the board of ALL OT stuff is far to extreme for my tastes. This should be a community of R owners, that can joke together and get to know each other better. That kind of community can only be reached through a little off-topic shenanigans (sp) every now and again.

I slightly disagree with you guys. First off, I do post OT stuff, but not every day. Secondly, and most importantly, whenever I ask some technical question (i.e. gauge installation, spoon thermoswitch, corner weights, etc), no one knows the answer and I get maybe 2-3 replies. So, what's my point? Maybe the forum would go back to the "technical" topics, if people take time to answer the questions with something useful to say. (That is if we assume that all the members know their stuff about cars, etc.). So, contribute to technical stuff and maybe it'll stop those dumb polls.

Jeff and Mike, you know I know what its like to moderate stuff, it is time consuming and can be a pain in the ***, this wasn't directed at you guys (all of the moderators collectively) at all .....
And I to get caught up in some of the OT stuff, but ....... oh well.
Mike and I spent a LONG time getting the R forum cleaned up on SHO, and H-T IS getting way more posts on the forum, I guess it is to be expected.
But when someone posts a tech question, it is nice not to wade through all the **** to find it again, or to see if it is one that you can answer with some authority.

sorry if you think my reply about me f ing off was directed at you...i meant in general if someone would like to weed out instead of me...say so. I post quite a bit...and when my eyes see something weird i check it real quick. i don't go through all of them unless someone directs me to something. If i see something odd or out of line...i usually just cut it out and move on.
If I get 3 complaints about a particular post, then that's when I'll step in and do something about it. I see all sorts of posts that I'd like to clean up (delete/lock), but don't since I feel that it's up to the members to decide what stays or doesn't.
So, if you guys see something you feel is inappropriate, let us/me know and I'll look into it.
yoshi - who asks that no more gun related posts be posted here...thanx

now don't get me wrong but posting this kind of topic is also a waste, it is your opinion and the opinions of others as well. But please send it to the moderator in email.
Well I moderate what I see fit which normally is late at night because some really odd topics get started then..I think maybe people are just bored or something. But I would like to keep an eye out for bad stuff floating about but I myself can't watch it all the time and I'm sure there alot items I miss because the board does move pretty fast.
A little variety never hurt anyone. And regurgitated tech gets boring also. But I do agree that some of these idiotic polls and far fetched OT stuff dont belong here.

Just like you bought a Hustler and complains about all the hardcore pictures in there. (?????)
You'll get to a stage where a simple joke will be moderated out.................................
Oh yeah, welcome to Honda-tech.com

The best solution is that the moderators should develop set standards and stick to them. It is unfair to delete some OT posts and keep others. The set standards should be communicated to forum members and followed. If not followed the post gets deleted. If members continually post in such a way, disciplinary action should follow.
But, remember, we have older cars. There are going to be very few new tech questions coming up. Maybe maintenance issues, but few tech questions because most things are known (best suspension, best tires, best exhaust, etc. etc.) or the resources to find this information is readily available.
The ITR forum has evolved into a community. So, it naturally is not only going to be about "tech." Other topics will be discussed, because this is what is normally talked about between friends.
I have no problems with OT topics. I choose to read some and choose to ignore others. This being one of the OT topics I chose to read.

I just wish we could disable the poll feature...most people hate it, and it's not a very useful tool...
I'm sure I speak for many others *cough* D....sorry...
fuggin polls

I hate fuggin polls.
however, the recent poll about annual mileage was good. it's a nice way to get comparative info. i guess i just really hate stupid topics. maybe i'll change my ways.
stupid fuggin topics....

I've followed this forum for a while before joining.
The group is large, fast moving and free flowing. The index clearly indicates the subject the original thread is taking. If a member considers it a waste of time he or she simply does not have to click on the thread. The reason the group has so many members is ITS POPULAR with the majority of the members. If some of the original's feel it was never what it was ...then just consider the fact that no one posted to the original goup......
If you do not like the thread simple ignore it.......the very threads that some people think are a waste of space would appear to be the MOST READ.
Moderators do a thankless job and in this case seem to have things quite right.
And Reid....your archive thread is no different to the ones the original's are complaining about!!!!!!!!!

I don't think we can complain too much. Look at the other forums like S2000/NSX. They have stuff from 2 weeks ago still on the main page!
