Default ZC head

Anyone put either the ZC head or the D16a1 head on a Sohc block? I have heard for years you couldnt do this, but i was looking at the headgasket and they almost look identical. Also, if im not mistaken dont they use the same headbolts. Same pistons.

If anyone has done or tried this process, please post some info. TIA

Technically it is possible, but the headbolts don't line up among other things. You'd have to do some extensive machining to get it to fit. You're way better off getting a full ZC block instead of using an A6 block.

The gains would be minimal, and you'd be doing WAY too much work (if you even could get it to work that is).

It would be much easier, faster and cheaper to drop in an entirely new DOHC longblock.

it was bascially a "can i do it" thing. No point in it at all but for research purposes.

I see. Well in that case, it has been done before, so it is possible.

Thanx for the info on the studs. I looked at that a little closer and saw what you were talking about. Big ups.
