As promised for everyone who was interested in the thread a ways back. This is everything you need to get started. I'm working on a more sophisticated version that I might sell at some point, but like I said, this is everything you need to get pointed in the right direction.

The article covers the basics from setting up the environment and programming tools for the Atmel AVR, the basics of sampling data, and the requisite programming needed to make the microcontroller talk to the palm!

No need to pay mad $$$ for guages.
