95 Accord brake pedal occasionaly goes farther to floor when stopping
I have a low mile 95 Honda Accord that was recently purchased and we are finding that the brake pedal will occasionly soften and go farther to the floor. This seems to occur when coming to a long slow stop at a stoplight or when in traffic starting and stoping often. The front and rear pads are good, the fluid is not low, I cannot find any leaks. I am concerned that the master cylinder may be the problem.
Does anyone have an idea what to look at?

My money is with Smokin Rubber and the master cylinder. I had the exact same symptoms on my Accord and my mom's Civic just a month ago. I figured it was aeration of the brake fluid so I bled the brakes on both. No help. New master cylinders in each car (under $200) and brake pedal is hard as a rock again.
I hear this is a common problem with Honda master cylinders. Something about the material they used on inner seals or something.

master cylinder is the first thing to check.
i would take it to the honda dealer, since they aren't ripping off peeps on that part of service.
good luck~

Thanks for the insight on the master cylinder. I tightened the reservoir down and thus far the brake pedal has felt solid. I did this because I noticed that when I tightened the reservoir cap the the whole reservoir turned. If this does not help I will change the master cylinder.
