alpine cd changer to headunit connector
Here is my situation, my brothers car(94 accord, factory tape player) was totalled by a drunk driver a few weeks ago. When he went to the yard to get his stuff he grabbed the cd changer out of the back, but not the wire connecting it to the head unit. Since then, he gave me cd changer(free), I have a 94 del sol(factory tape player). I've been to a couple of audio shops and they want $85bucks for this connector wire. They say that alpine charges this because of theft. My question is, is this my ONLY option and does that sound like a reasonable price? Thanks in advance
BS. You should be able to stop into a circuit city (BB doesn't carry alpine do they?) and get that cable for something like $20 if that. If you're connecting it to your factory radio you'll need an interface adaptor, which I think they have for your year... , and tend to run $30.
Circuit actually refused to sell it to me. They said I had to go threw alpine to get it. Also, I know that this changer was made for Honda's so do I still need an adapter?
I would go to a salvage, and ask to look at other cars that would have the adapter. It should just be a simple 6 or 8 din connection. I have seen them on the internet, google the two things you are trying to connect and i'll bet someone will sell it.
the changer isn't actually made for it (IE>> if it's a true alpine)... you have to switch two pins around. Really easy though. I'm sure if you google it you'll find the two you have to flip. Ignore this if the changer has HONDA written on it of course lol

Awesome idea if you can front the money for it.
Can't you just buy some sort of basic wire, like 10ft in length, and then crimp on the connectors that you need at each end??

circuit city does not carry that changer.. they didnt refuse to sell it to you.. ive sold changer cables to customers for some extra money before.. i know the changer cable is NOT cheap and i would charge about 50 if i had one.. i know alpine ainet cables for for 60 brand new.. you need alpine mbus cable if you can get your hands on it and switch the pins you will be good to go..

Well, a guy from circuit city let me try a cable from a newer alpine model and it did fit with my changer, I'm not sure if it would fit with the deck though? But he did say that he couldn't sell me just the wire. Do you run your own shop? I thought $80 bucks was a little ridiculous. I would be willing to pay 40-50 since I got the changer for free. I think I will have to find a stereo shop who sells alpines that would be willing to sell it to me. Thanks for the help

Would it be wrong to buy a CD changer from a store and put your broken AInet cable in the box and take the new one? It is a moral question I have been asking myself for a while now. I use to work at CC and stuff like this would happen all the time.
