Default Contemplating buying a 91 standard. Pros and cons of buying it.

Im considering buying a 91 civic standard. I know their the lightest hatches and that with a swap you have to at least change to dx brakes but other than that what are some pros and cons of buying a standard vs. buying a dx. thanks for all the help

first thing the standard and dx are basically the same thing. pros easy swaps, lightest hatches, parts are very cheap. cons hard to get wired right if you do it yourself the right way, changing all of the parts for a swap.

I have the STD.... LOVE IT!!

Just had a Y8 dropped in with a 5 speed.... so sweet...

Yes wiring is a pain.. plus needed new axles and hubs...but maybe it is just because I saw such a HUGE difference in performance after the swap that I am such an advocate...But if you can pick it up cheap enough...parts are everywhere especially if you drop in a d series motor.. (z6, y8, etc..) nice power gains for little $$... Good luck!

thanks guys for all the help. Ive had a 91 dx before and really liked it. I just got back home from buying the standard and im in love all over again. I got it for 650 bones and drove it home. Already got a 91 si cluster for it and dx front brakes(until i can afford bigger or better)

If you are going with a D-motor and don't have the money for DX/SI/EX knuckles then you can mount the calipers on your knuckles and reuse the axles since the outer spline count is different from the DX/SI knuckles and they have the same tranny cups. Let me know if you need a wiring conversion.
