Why is the Prelude sooo damn HEAVY?
anybody know why they made the prelude soo damn heavy?
i never knew that the prelude was 3000lbs or close to it
the preludes weight is its major disadvantage
what makes it soo heavy?

i used to think the same thing until i realized that i weigh about the same as the difference between gsr and ludes. so when you talking about a 3000lb car i don't think that 2 or 3 hundred lbs really make that much difference.

thats because of its weight

only thing i like in his car is the lower seats...and maybe is honda acoustic system...just my opinion i guess

mucho sound-insulation, beefy frame braces, etc...take a ride in an integra and get back in your car...nice?? that's what makes the prelude heavy.
preludes dont have that much sound insulation. the engine and tranny are going to make up a lot of weight. hmmm...maybe we should turn this into a project. everyone gets a section of the car and has to weigh everything to find out where all that weight is and what we can get rid of.
300lbs out of a 3000# car is a big difference.. 10% to be exact! Its almost like gaining 10% more power.. 200 to 220hp... Also, that is 300lbs of forward momentem that has to be changed to make the car turn.. Less grip the tires have..

Don't you wish you could be a midget? Wouldn't the light weight make for an ideal road course driver? Oh I guess the phone books on the seat and pedal extenders would cancel out any weight savings.

driving a GSR and a LUDE back to back is a world of a difference... i'm speaking here from experience -- my ex gf had a 98 GSR and i have a 97 SH. and when we used to go out, I had to make a decision on what to drive, and i ALWAYS picked the lude unless there were people to be lugged around. Although her car was newer, i liked my lude better in all areas.
Well, our cars have less noise, they ride better, they still have to power... we have the motor that's envy to every hybrid guy in existance...

I prefer the way the prelude drives to the GSR. It feels more stable and solid. Although the GSR is a bit more fun to drive. Each has their own plusses and minuses.
man quite yer whining about "preludes being heavy"
Try driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee around (5500 lbs. empty) for a couple days then get back into yer Prelude and tell me if it's heavy.
Don't drink and drive!

For those who think it should have been in a hatch. . . . go buy one to put it in. Those of us who love our Preludes don't want a damn hatch. . . . I prefer to have a whole car.
