Default Motor "pops" at 8000rpm

I have a b16 with 3mm HG and a garrett t3/to4e running .8 bar on stock bottom end. Also, have an MSD ignition, msd coil, and nology wires. plugs are gapped at, if I can remember right, .30. Now, this thing goes, but once I get to 8000rpm, it pops and stops pulling as hard. Any ideas? I am running the zdyne gold secu and dsm 450's as well. Is it running too lean up top? blowing out spark? I also have aem adjustable cam gears to compensate for the 3mm hg, and they are both set at -4.5degrees each. this is where it seemed to run the best. but maybe the cam timing is off too much and causeing the popping??? I really want to get it running correctly for next weekend at the track.......

you mean .030 right? The only way to find out is to bolt on a wideband 02 on and have it check out. It could be possible that you're running lean or the spark is getting blown out.

What plugs are you using?

Have you tried closing the gap a little? I had a similar situation in my Civic and it was reccomended to me to regap the plugs (smaller). Did so and viola! Ran like a champ!

How much timing are you running? You can also try a .028" gap or so and see if that helps.

Keep in mind that a wideband will always "show" a lean condition when the engine misfires, because it only registers burned hydrocarbons.

Gap the plugs down to about .020 and if the problem goes away, you can either leave it that way, or get a more powerful ignition system.

Don't assume with your project. If you don't know if its running rich/lean you shouldn't be reving her to 8000rpm untuned. Get that thing on the dyno and tune it properly before you calf the motor somewhere away from home and your stuck with a scat motor, a tow bill and alot of time to say ,"**** I was so stupid, I knew better and still went for it". If you email me at ssoutlaw24@hotmail.com I can send you a program I used on my LS motor with 450cc injectors tuned with a FJO wideband o2(made over 300whp with the injectors maxed out at 14psi). Great city driving and gasmileage and good WOT. Post your complete mods so I know what your working with.
Lastly zero your intake cam and retard your exhaust cam -2.
