Default Coolant Leaking

Ok I hope someone can help me with this problem. I had a new engine put in my 91 CRX back in April. In May I put a new stock radiator in. Everything has been fine up until about a week ago. I noticed some antifreeze leaking. So I opened the hood and found the overflow reservoir full and overflowing. So I poured the antifreeze back in the radiator. Then I drove the car around and watched the temp gauge it never over heated but when I got home the reservoir was full again. So I figured it would be a bad radiator cap but after replacing it the same thing has happened. So anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks
Todd

Just try burping your motor...could be just air pockets in your cooling system.

Sounds like your thermostat is not opening.

This can be deceptive as the partially open thermostat will not overheat quickly and if enough air is flowing across the radidator when driving it does not get too hot. But when stopped the air pulled across the radiator may not be sufficient to cool the engine at the partial flow of a stuck thermostat. Does the fan cycle on and off at idle?

Fan cycles fine. I thought about the thermostat but since it wasn't overheating I dismissed it. And I have real good heat coming out of the vents on the cold mornings.

Thanks

I am betting its the thermostat. They are cheap and easy to replace. be sure to bleed the air out of the system. With the radiator cap off start the engine with the heat valve on but not blower motor. Let the engine heat up till the fan cycles twice. Fill the radiator and the overflow. if it continues to push the water out of the overflow it may be a blown head gasket$$$$$.

sup, tou should pressure test it. once you do this, you could locate where the leak is at.

The first time my coolant bubbled and overflowed was when I blew my head gasket. At first I thought it was the thermostat.

A little while ago it overflowed a couple of times. I replaced the rad cap and now it's all good.
