Tach bounces and interior lights dim when I brake. Ignitor problem?
I have a 89 CRX DX. The bouncing tach has been a problem for a while. When I start the car, the tach pointer will bounce and it feels like the car is cutting in and out. I've been told this is the ignitor, and Honda will replace for free because of a recall back in the day.
Well just the other night, I notice that my gauge cluster lights and heater control lights dim VERY low (like they're not even on) when I am stopped at a stop sign, red light, etc. No heater or A/C was running.
The battery is about 2 years old, and the alternator is a little over a year old, both purchased brand new. What do you guys think is wrong? I'm sure the ignitor needs to be replaced because of the bouncing tach, but would a bad ignitor cause the interior lights to dim too? Please help.
